PRP for Low Back Pain and Sciatica
Patient: Jessica receiving treatment at the Windsor Pain Care Clinic for radicular pain in the leg and back pain related to a herniated disc sustained in March.
Affected areas: Lumbar spine, discs, SI Joint and facet joints
Prior interventions: Extensive pain management medications, chiropractic care, massage therapy, and physiotherapy.
Pre-treatment condition: Severe pain with antalgic posture (bent forward), significant muscle spasm, limited walking tolerance (≤100 meters), and consideration of a $30,000 back surgery due to functional impairment.
Treatment Administered
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injection guided by clinic physician utilizing ultrasound to guided PRP into the caudal epidural space, facet joints and sacroiliac joint.
Procedure completed two months prior to this update.
Intent: Non-surgical intervention targeting disc and facet-related pain to reduce inflammation and heal damaged tissue related to disc herniation and degeneration.
Outcomes and Current Status
Pain Relief:
Reported near-complete pain relief following PRP.
Analgesic use reduced to one Advil per day; residual muscle pain manageable with Tylenol.
Functional Recovery:
Resolution of antalgic posture; spine now straight (initial presentation mimicked scoliosis due to curvature).
Capacity to work 12-hour hospital shifts on feet without issues.
Restoration of normal daily life and ability to deliver adequate patient care.
Patient Recommendation
Strong endorsement of PRP therapy based on significant effectiveness in pain management and functional recovery.

Status Update: PRP Treatment Outcomes
Treatment Context:
Received PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) injections in both knees after five years of extensive pain and swelling.
Prior mobility aids included walkers and canes due to limited ability to walk.
Post-Treatment Progress:
Within two weeks, able to walk stairs normally for the first time in six years.
Swelling has resolved.
Pain has reduced to a minimal level.
Recovery Notes:
The first three days post-procedure involved discomfort and icing, considered manageable and worthwhile.
Impact:
Reported a significant positive change in quality of life following treatment.

PRP treatment was affirmed as highly effective for the participant’s knee condition, delivering rapid and substantial functional improvement.
